Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes and No.

Yes - in cases of car accidents and workers compensation there are practitioners here who can bill directly for these services provided a doctor's prescription.

No - there is currently no mechanism within the state of Pennsylvania for us to bill health insurance in other situations. However in some cases you may be able to get a reimbursement from your insurance company for part of the fees associated. This would also require a prescription and receipts from your practitioner which we are happy to provide when needed.

People with medical Flexible Spending Accounts are eligible for reimbursement. Ask your practitioner for a receipt.

Do your treatments hurt?

No, they shouldn't. This is not a "no pain, no gain" situation. Having said that, opening up a chronically tight muscle or muscle group could be akin to opening a fist that has been clenched for year - it might feel quite sore as its coaxed into opening up. This can create confusing sensations. A sure sign that what you're feeling is "too much" is if you start clenching some other place in your body that's not directly being worked on. If that happens, tell your practitioner immediately.

While all the practitioners at Health Alternatives are sensitive to individual needs and work hard to maintain our sense of awareness - yes, to a degree we really do feel your pain - we are only human. If something doesn't feel right please tell us and we'll adjust accordingly, finding what workd best for you.

How do I find the right practitioner for me?

Absent of a direct referral, we recommend you read about the various treatments, myriad success stories and practitioner bios presented on this website and make the best informed decision that you can, but remember - your body is the ultimate authority. If you're not pleased with your results talk it over with your practitioner. A new approach may be needed or even a different mode of treatment.

What if I want to switch practitioners or see more than one?

That's fine with us. Also, do know that helping you get the treatment and relief your body needs is our primary goal. If that means seeing a different practitioner (or even someone outside Health Alternatives) because they do what you most need we'll be the first to tell you.
